Broken Things Still Bloom is a memoir that features stories from my life growing up in West Baltimore city.  In this book I discuss how I coped with childhood trauma and navigating life as the child of a drug addicted mother and an absent father. Some other highlights of my story center around my relationships with friends and family and meeting the person who would become my first love. Writing my story gave me a chance to confront those memories that were too difficult to face. Facing those memories and working through feelings of pain, anger and sadness helped me in the struggle to regain my voice. My inspiration for telling my story was to give my children a clear picture of who their mother is and how I became this person.  This book is for any young woman or girl who has had similar experiences and were left feeling unsafe, unseen and unheard. What I would say to them is, you are not alone and you can get through this. The message I want my readers to come away with is when hard times come and you feel like you may not make it, lean on your faith and your inner strength to push through
